I’m at my parents’ new house in Mallorca, for the Christmas period.
Today I rambled around the fields behind the house and took some pictures of dead animals’ bones (rat’s and sheep’s). Makes me glad i’m still in control of my own.

I like this article. Mostly just because it reinforces opinions I already had and therefore encourages a lot of the positive behaviours i’ve developed. Not that I would call my brain highly effective, but I aspire to be able to satisfy these ten commandments.

I definitely need to give the frietjes and beer a rest, and do more exercise. I blame Belgium. The portions are massive here, and fries are practically the national dish. I have been doing a lot more exercise here, though, than in Ireland. That was until my bike’s rear innertube got punctured and I was too lazy to fix it. Must do that after Christmas.
Scientists carried out an experiment to explore the reasons why we feel that time slows down in times of danger/fear.
They concluded that it’s because the brain stores more information about these intense and previously unexperienced events than banal, unremarkable events, and therefore they seem to have lasted longer in hindsight.
They say the same goes for our perception that time seems to fly by much faster for adults than for children: Everything is new for children and so they have much more densely built memories.

I really enjoy doing these digital paintings, but what I really find really distracting from the fun and creativity of it is trying to get the portraits to actually look like the people they represent… whilst still maintaining something expressive
