Don’t laugh, but: I cooked something!
And it was damn delicious. It was rice with sautéed potatoes in a garlic/chili sardine sauce. Ok, so I’m no michelin star chef, or even a good home cook, but I’m proud of my creation. I basically just looked around and used the ingredients I had left, after having arrived back home last night to a rather scanty larder (haha I don’t have a larder :()
I chopped new potatoes into relatively small discs and crescents, parboiled them (with “potato spices” – sea salt, paprika, thyme, rosmary, …, I think), then sautéed the potatoes and added finely chopped garlic, chili powder, pepper, more “potato spices”, and the rather large tin of sardines, along with the olive oil they were preserved in.
Then I added rice that I had already cooked, and mixed it in with the potatoes and sardine sauce, and added some lemon juice to lighten this very stodgy dish somewhat.
And I have some left over for tomorrow :)
In other news, I bled the radiator in my room, so instead of being uncomfortably cold, i’m now uncomfortably warm, and I much prefer it this way.
